Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted that severe heat wave conditions would prevail over Rajasthan for the next two days. Apart from this, heat wave conditions will continue over Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Odisha for the next two days. However, Director General of India Meteorological Department Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra also said on Wednesday that the temperature will drop from tomorrow. India has recorded severe heat wave conditions and a significant increase in maximum temperatures of at least 3-4 degrees Celsius for the past three days.
In the last three days, heat wave conditions are prevailing over some parts of Central India like South Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Kutch and Konkan region. In the central part, up to Gujarat-Rajasthan and Odisha, the temperature is above normal. We expect the intensity to go down from tomorrow and the temperature will drop gradually, IMD Director General Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heat wave conditions to severe heat wave conditions in some parts of western Rajasthan till March 17 and heat wave conditions are likely to occur in isolated areas in this region on March 18.
IMD has also predicted that heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail over Konkan and Saurashtra-Kutch at isolated places on March 16, while heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over Gujarat region, West Madhya Pradesh till March 17. The situation is likely to persist.
Heat wave conditions are likely over East Rajasthan on March 16 and 17 and over Odisha during March 16-18. According to IMD, heat wave conditions will prevail in Saurashtra and Kutch region for 24 hours and in North Gujarat for the next 48 hours. The heatwave will subside after 2 days but the temperature will remain high.
The Meteorological Department has forecast severe heatwave conditions over Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and West Rajasthan for the past few days. Let us inform that the IMD has also been issuing alerts for severe heat conditions across the country. Gujarat and Mumbai were placed under ‘Yellow Alert’ and ‘Orange Alert’.

IMD data showed that most places in Punjab and Uttarakhand recorded maximum temperatures of 3-6 degrees Celsius above normal at most places.
Strong winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over South Andaman Sea on March 19.
