The US says that even though buying cheap oil from Russia is not a violation of sanctions, when the history of the present time is written, it will be considered as support for the Russian attack.
Russia is offering India crude oil at a discount, which India can buy. When the US was asked about its possibility, the White House said that it would not violate the US sanctions imposed on Russia. Although White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a daily news conference on Tuesday that buying oil from Russia at a discount is not a violation of US sanctions, but the US will send a message to all countries to obey these sanctions. Jane said that even if the sanctions were not violated, when the history of the present time is written, it will be considered as an endorsement of the Russian attack.

India had suggested a solution through dialogue
India has not supported Russia’s attack on Ukraine and has asked both Russia and Ukraine to resolve the mutual dispute through dialogue. However, when voting was being held against Russia in the UN Security Council on this issue, India was absent during the voting process.
Mixed situation regarding India in America
Officials of the Biden administration are also understanding India’s position and have told the US government that India is heavily dependent on military supplies from Russia for its national security. However, Indian-American lawmaker Dr Amy Bera has expressed disappointment over the news of India buying low-priced oil from Russia. Bera said that if this news is true and India buys oil cheaply from Russia, then at this critical juncture in history when people around the world are standing with the citizens of Ukraine against Russia’s disastrous attack, India is on Putin’s side. I will be seen standing. Bera said that as a member of the world’s largest democracy and the QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue), it is India’s responsibility that none of its steps directly or indirectly support the attack on Putin and Ukraine.
