Deepak Hooda also made his debut in international T20 cricket today after making his One Day International cricket debut against the West Indies (IND vs WI ODI, 2022) earlier this month. Deepak Hooda was included in the playing XI today in the first match of the 3 T20 International series against Sri Lanka. It is being played at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Deepak Hooda had not been able to join Team India’s T20 set-up on two occasions earlier, but the luckier Hooda made his T20 International debut today. Batting first today, India scored 199 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs and set Sri Lanka a target of 200 runs to win.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma scored 44 runs. Ishan Kishan, who entered the field as an opener with him, scored 89 runs. Shreyas Iyer (Shreyas Iyer not out) scored 57 and Ravindra Jadeja (Ravindra Jadeja not out) scored 3 runs.
Hooda is seen in good form
Deepak Hooda was selected for the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in December 2017. But, he did not get the opportunity to play in any of those matches. After 3 months, he made it to the squad for the Nidas Trophy, but in that too he was not selected in the playing XI. Baroda’s 26-year-old all-rounder Deepak Hooda has played 141 T20 matches, in which he has 2172 runs in his account and has also taken 17 wickets.
