Aurangabad : Two vicious criminals who carried out the chain snatching incidents in the city’s MIDC Walooj, CIDCO and Cantonment Police Station have been caught by the city police. MIDC Walooj Police seized goods worth more than 2.5 lakh rupees including jewelery and motorcycle from these two vicious robbers.
A woman was crossing the road from Rajmata Chowk on 29 November 2021 in her police station area by PI Sandeep Gurme of MIDC Waluj police station. At the same time, two miscreants, who came on a bike, escaped by snatching a gold chain worth 22 thousand rupees from the neck of the said woman. MIDC Walooj police started investigation after registering a crime on the complaint of the woman regarding this incident. Here, the city’s CP Dr. Nikhil Gupta had also given strict instructions to the officers of every police station in the city to check the increasing incidents of chain snatching. By forming a squad, a detailed investigation was started to find out the accused who carried out the chain snatching incidents.

During investigation, PSI Chetan Ogle of M. Walooj police station and his team got secret information that Lahu Bhagwan Vajire, resident of Vitava village of Gangapur tehsil of the district and Sameer Chhotu Shaha, resident of Domegaon, were involved in carrying out chain snatching incidents in the city. On this information, M. Walooj police took them into custody and interrogated them, they confessed to carrying out chain snatching incidents in different police station areas of the city.
PI Sandeep Gurme said that on January 22, 2022, these robbers escaped after snatching a gold chain worth Rs 77 thousand from a woman’s neck in Padegaon of Cantonment area. Apart from this, on January 26, 2022, in CIDCO police station area, he escaped after snatching a gold chain worth Rs 52 thousand from the neck of a woman going with her husband from MGM Hospital Road. The police confiscated jewelery worth Rs 1.5 lakh and a Pulsar bike worth Rs 1 lakh from both the miscreants, in this way totaling goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh.
