Bhandara, Satellite mapping of the water spread area has been completed after stopping the water at 245.500 meter level in the Gosikhurd project. After the completion of the survey work, from February 2, the release of 160 cumecs of water was started for the hydroelectric project built in the Terai of Bandhi. It is estimated that the people of the area facing the problem of backwater can get some relief.
Time passed, so the figures also changed
The pre-survey for Gosikhurd, which took place in the year 1983, was started from about 1981. The purpose of this survey remains that after the completion of the project, how much area will be affected by the water expansion. Based on this collected data, the rehabilitation plan was made. But since it took a long time for the project to be completed. As a result, now when the water was stopped at the level of 245.500 meters in the project. The water spread to the area where it was not predicted. That is, as time passed. The data collected in the previous survey is out of date. The use of land on the banks of the river, expansion of villages to the banks of the river, accumulation of gar in the river and Gosikhurd reservoir led to the expansion of water.
Why was satellite mapping done?
In the month of November, work was started for water transition at the level of 245.500. The backwaters as if wreaked havoc. The cremation ground built on the banks of the river, from the fields to the houses were submerged. Bhandara city was one of the most affected areas. This was the reason that satellite mapping was done to collect the data of the affected area of water spread. Satellite mapping of Gosikhurd reservoir has been completed by MRSAC. The Executive Engineer in the Gosikhurd Dam Department has officially announced that the satellite mapping has been completed.
water release start
According to the executive engineer office sources in the Gosikhurd Dam Department, after the completion of satellite mapping after stopping the water at the level of 245.500 meters, 160 cumecs of water was started to be released for the 24 MW hydroelectric project built in the Terai of the Dam. It is estimated that the people of the area facing the problem of backwater can get some relief.
No disaster for the next two and a half years
Sources said that now once the satellite mapping has been done. Apart from the edited land, after the land has been marked, now when further action will be taken and afresh the land edited action will be taken. Due to which now we will not have to face the threat of water for the next two and a half to three years.
The water was above the danger level in Bhandara
The danger level in Bhandara is 245 metres. The backwaters had crossed this level. Because of this, the decision to release water now can give a big relief.
