A case of criminal conspiracy has been registered against Raveendran under section 120B of IPC and section 69(A) of IT Act at Aarey Colony police station in Mumbai.
An FIR has been registered against Ravindran, the owner of BYJU’S.
Recently an FIR has been registered in Mumbai against the owner of BYJU’S, Raveendran. It is alleged that some wrong and misleading information has been added in BYJU’S UPSC Syllabus. This FIR has been lodged against Ravindran by Snehil Dhal, founder of the science firm Crimeophobia at Aarey Colony police station.
In the FIR, it is alleged that BYJU’S had stated in its UPSC syllabus that the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI is a ‘nodal agency’ for the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). Whereas according to the complainant it is being said that the CBI had earlier clarified in writing that they are not the nodal agency for UNTOC. After getting information about this, an FIR has been registered.
CBI is not the nodal agency of UNTOC
Snehil Dhal told reporters that when this information was noticed, it was immediately reported to BYJU’S and they were asked to correct this information by sending an email. However, in response to this, Snehil received a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs stating that the CBI is a nodal agency of the UNTOC but that letter was from 2012 and Dhal was not satisfied with the reply, so he lodged a police complaint.
Upon further investigation, it was also revealed that the CBI had stated in writing in 2016 that they were not the nodal agency for the UNTOC.
Petition filed in Supreme Court
After this and on receiving unsatisfactory response from BYJU, Snehil Dhal has also filed a criminal writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Union of India and 45 departments for not implementing the UNTOC in the country.
As of now, there is no update or any official statement from BYJU on this matter. However, the name of the owner was there in the FIR lodged. A case of criminal conspiracy has been registered under section 120B of IPC and section 69(A) of IT Act at Aarey Colony police station in Mumbai.
