Honda Amaze primarily competes against Maruti Suzuki. The 2021 Honda Amaze will get a host of changes inside and out to rival the DZire and Hyundai Aura and the updated version
The updated Honda Amaze is likely to get new fabric upholstery and trim inserts.
Honda Cars India has City and Amaze as its best selling models within the domestic range and Honda City got a major upgrade last year. The fifth generation City was introduced in July 2020 and has received a good response among customers looking for a mid-size sedan and it is now learned that Honda will launch the facelifted Amaze on August 17.
Honda Amaze primarily competes against Maruti Suzuki. The DZire and Hyundai Aura and the updated version will see several changes on the inside and outside of the Amaze to bring in a fresh vibe. The latest Amaze has been on sale since early 2018 and made its local debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. The exterior of the modified Amaze will see the usual mid-life changes. It will set full LED headlights, redesigned alloy wheels, redesigned front and rear bumpers while new color schemes could also be offered.
On the inside, the updated Honda Amaze is likely to get new fabric upholstery and trim inserts. The device list can be added with new features, one of which will be an electric sunroof.
Engine will be as strong as before
Some of the pre-existing features can also be made available in the lower trims to make things better. For performance, the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol could be used which churns out a maximum power output of 90 horsepower and 110 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is currently mated to a five-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission.
The 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel makes 100 horsepower and 200 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a five-speed manual as standard, while the optional CVT auto makes 80 horsepower and 160 Nm using the same engine. The diesel CVT combination remains a great proposition with the Amaze and the segment-first electric sunroof could attract new customers.
Mid-size SUV segment will increase competition
The Japanese manufacturer is also reportedly working on a medium-sized SUV, while rolling out plans for a compact SUV. It could be similar to the production version of the N7X concept, which replaces the BR-V in markets like Indonesia. It is said that it is based on the same platform as the City and will be offered at an aggressive price tag against the rivals.
