On one hand the world is battling the havoc of Corona. Many countries have been badly affected by the virus that started from China. On the other hand, the risk of other diseases among the corona has also not reduced. There is a danger of the spread of Avian Flu in many countries. A senior official said that more than 10,000 poultry birds have died due to the outbreak of avian flu in Ghana.
Patrick Abakeh, director of the Directorate of Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), told Xinhua news agency late Saturday that a total of seven firms from Greater Accra, Volta and Central regions reported the outbreak. Abkeh said from these seven farms, 5811 birds died naturally, while the veterinary services department killed 4500 birds.
Humans are also at risk of infection
So till now a total of 10,311 birds have died due to this outbreak. To prevent the spread of flu to other farms, it was imperative to kill the remaining birds at each affected farm, the official said. Due to its zoonotic nature, bird flu can also affect humans, including farmhands and everyone who comes in contact with infected birds, the official said. He said the authorities are focusing on containing the disease and fortunately no case of human infection has been reported so far.
Rare disease detected in America
In Texas, America, a person has been found infected with the rare ‘monkeypox’. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave this information on Friday. In this way, this is the first case of its kind that came to the fore in Texas. This viral disease has been found in a US resident, who recently traveled from Nigeria to America. At present, he has been admitted to Dallas.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said, although this case is rare, this case is not a danger alarm. We do not see any danger to the common people from this disease right now. In addition to Nigeria, outbreaks of the disease were seen in Central and West African countries in the 1970s.
