The Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback have been officially launched in the Indian car market at a starting price of Rs 99.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Audi India on Thursday launched two electric vehicles here to take on rivals like Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace. The price of e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 has been kept at Rs 1.16 crore and Rs 1.17 crore (ex-showroom).
Audi’s entry into the EV segment is expected to further accelerate the battery-powered campaign in the personal mobility sector of the country. Audi India is confident about the prospects of the e-tron model being favored by the buyers in the country. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head, Audi India, said, “The Audi e-tron 50, Audi e-tron 55, and Audi e-tron Sportback 55 are the perfect amalgamation of luxury, zero emission, performance and everyday utility. With three offerings, we have an offering for every type of EV customer in the small but growing luxury SUV space.”
Bookings for both the e-tron and the e-tron Sportback were opened late last month for Rs 5 lakh at Audi dealerships and on the Audi India website. The German giant’s supporting after-sales service network is strong enough to meet the diverse needs of a battery-powered vehicle. While many service packages as well as warranties are also available.
Audi e-tron, etron sportback: battery and performance
- The Audi e-tron 55 and Audi e-tron Sportback 55 draw power from a 95kW battery while the e-tron 50 draws power from a 71kW battery. The EVs generate 408 hp power and 664 Nm of torque. The EV claims to accelerate to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds despite its massive weight of around 2.5 tonnes.
- Audi is also managing progressive steering, adaptive air suspension and electric all-wheel drive system to give the e-tron the model of being a machine-ready capable of providing a comfortable riding experience.
- Audi says that the e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 have a range between 359 km and 484 km while the e-tron 50 has a range between 264 km and 379 km.

Audi e-tron Exterior & Cabin Highlights
A large silver grille dominates the front facing Audi EVs while Matrix LED headlamps come as standard. There are charging points on either side of the vehicle and the flap opens with the touch of a button.
Inside the cabin, a 10.1-inch central infotainment screen is found and provides haptic feedback. There is also a second (8.6 inch) screen below the main unit to control the operation of the HVAC. This includes air quality package with four-zone climate control, heads-up display (HUD), ambient and contour lighting, B&O sound system with 16 speakers and air fragrance.
