In many countries of the world, once again the cases of corona virus are increasing rapidly. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday directed officials to maintain a high level of vigilance and surveillance and aggressively carry out genomic sequencing amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in some European and East Asian countries.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Health Minister reviewed the government’s decision to resume scheduled international flights from March 27, the status of vaccination and the level of genomic surveillance.

The Union Health Minister held a high-level meeting with senior government officials and experts in view of rising cases in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and some European countries, an official source said. The source told news agency PTI that the minister has directed for aggressive genomic sequencing, high surveillance and high level of vigilance.

Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Biotechnology Secretary Dr Rajesh Gokhale, Pharmaceutical Department Secretary S Aparna, NITI Aayog Member (Health) V K Paul, ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava and AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria and NTAGI COVID Senior government officials, including Dr NK Arora, Chairman of the 19 Working Group, participated in the meeting.
Increase in Covid cases in America and Asia
Several countries in the world, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea, have recently reported an increase in coronavirus infections. However, the outbreak of COVID in China seems to be slowing down this week. But South Korea’s daily COVID-19 infection has reached a record 621,328. At the same time, a rapid increase in corona cases is also being seen in America. In many parts of the country, people have started returning to offices with the relaxation of mask rules. At the same time, the officials have become alert again regarding the new risk of infection.
2,539 new cases of COVID-19 and 60 deaths in India
After 2,539 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in a day, the number of corona virus infected in the country increased to 4,30,01,477. At the same time, the number of active patients has come down to 30,799. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday morning, the death toll has increased to 5,16,132 after 60 more people died of infection in the country. The number of active patients of COVID-19 in the country has come down to 30,799, which is 0.07 percent of the total cases. In the last 24 hours, a decrease of 2,012 was recorded in the number of active patients.
The national recovery rate of patients has increased to 98.73 percent. So far, a total of 4,24,54,546 people have become infection free in the country and the death rate from COVID-19 is 1.20 percent. At the same time, more than 180.80 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign. According to the Health Ministry data, 60 cases of death due to infection were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, out of which 50 cases were from Kerala.
