Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Sunday that the incident with the daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan was not a ‘kidnapping’ at all. He said that this is an international conspiracy and an agenda of the Indian intelligence agency RAW. Sheikh Rashid made this remark while talking to Pakistani media Geo News on the program ‘Naya Pakistan’.
On Saturday, there were reports of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter being ‘kidnapped’ and ‘tortured’ in Islamabad. A statement from the Afghan Foreign Ministry said the girl was abducted for “several hours” on Friday. Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a statement in response, saying that an in-depth investigation has been launched in this regard and law enforcement agencies are “trying to trace the perpetrators and bring them to justice”.
girl used three taxis
According to the statement, the security of the ambassador and his family was beefed up. Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the Home Minister to get to the bottom of the matter within 48 hours. Last night, the Home Minister, while sharing an update on the investigation, said that the woman had used two taxis. The driver of one has been contacted while the other will be traced after a written statement by the family.
Speaking to Pakistani media on Monday, Sheikh Rashid said that the ambassador’s daughter had earlier claimed that her phone was stolen and later gave her mobile but all her data had been deleted. He said the CCTV footage at the time of the incident was checked and it was found that there were three taxis that he had used, not two. She took a taxi from Daman Koh and did not return home.
Allegations of defaming Pakistan
Rashid told that the girl went to Daman Koh from F-7 and then went to F-9 Park area. After leaving the house, he first shopped at Khadda Market. He told that in Daman Koh he had used the internet from a mobile phone. Earlier, he said in a press conference that it is expected that the matter will be resolved within 72 hours. He accused India of defaming Pakistan.
