France Allows Vaccinated Travellers: France has allowed international travelers (Travel in France) taking doses of the COVID-19 vaccine produced in India, AstraZeneca (in India under the name Covishield), to enter the country. This decision will be effective from Sunday. Along with this, France has further tightened border checks to prevent infection of the delta variant of the corona virus and to protect hospitals from pressure, according to the Prime Minister’s statement released on Saturday.
France has allowed those who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, produced by India’s Serum Institute of India, to enter the country following criticism from the European Union for recognizing the AstraZeneca vaccine produced only in Europe. Many European countries have already recognized the Indian Made AstraZeneca Vaccine, which is being used extensively in the UK and Africa. Traveling during the summer holidays has become more complicated this year due to different rules in each country.
Russia-China vaccine not recognized
France has not yet recognized a Chinese or Russian vaccine. The EU drug regulator has so far authorized vaccines from Pfizer/BioNtech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca (France Red List Countries). Along with this, France has said that those coming from Britain, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Greece and Cipras will have to show a negative report of Corona, who have not got the vaccine. This report should not be more than 24 hours old.
put these countries in red list
Apart from this, France has put Tunisia, Indonesia, Cuba and Mozambique in the red list. According to the statement released on Saturday, France will allow only those people from the countries included in the red list who have taken both doses of the vaccine. France has also reduced the gap between the first and second doses. This difference was two weeks earlier, which has now been reduced to one week. President Emmanuel Macron has asked all health workers to get the vaccine by September 15 and said that a special COVID-19 pass will be mandatory for going to public places.
