Covaxin in WHO: The World Health Organization has not yet included Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin in its emergency use list. A decision can be taken on this soon.
Covaxin Likely to Get Approval From WHO may soon get approval from WHO – symbolic picture
Covaxin WHO Approval Status: The World Health Organization will take a decision in the coming four to six weeks whether Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine will be included in the Emergency Use List (EUL) or not. This information has been given by Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of the organization. On Friday, a webinar was organized by the Center for Science and Environment (CSE), in which Swaminathan gave this information.
He said that the World Health Organization is reviewing the vaccine (Covaxin WHO Approval Update). At the same time, Bharat Biotech has also uploaded all the data on the WHO portal. According to the guidelines of the organization, the Emergency Use List (EUL) is a process to streamline the process by which new products can be approved and used during public health emergencies like pandemics.
How does the vaccine get approved?
Swaminathan said, “There is a process to be followed for EUL. Under which the company has to complete three steps and then all the data has to be handed over to the regulatory department of WHO (Covaxin WHO Approval Latest). This data is then analyzed by the Expert Advisory Group again. Data also includes security, effectiveness, manufacturing quality and standards. So I hope Bharat Biotech has already submitted the data and in four to six weeks a decision will be taken on its inclusion.
These vaccines have been approved
So far, WHO has approved vaccines from Pfizer-Bioenter, AstraZeneca-SK Bio/Serum Institute of India, AstraZeneca EU, Gencin, Moderna and Sinopharm for emergency use (Covid Vaccines Approved by WHO). Soumya Swaminathan said, ‘We are looking at Covaxin. Bharat Biotech has now started uploading its data on our portal and this is the next vaccine which will be reviewed by our expert committee. He said that currently there are 105 vaccine candidates in clinical evaluation, out of which 27 are in the third or fourth stage.
