As the impact of Corona continues to deepen, 27 crore women belonging to the low income group are facing special challenges and difficulties in their recovery. This is the situation even when they are working as lifelines in their community and as frontline workers during the pandemic. A study was conducted in 10 states of the country regarding the effect of corona on women from low-income families in the country. In these 10 states, 63 percent of the low-income families live. The study was conducted by Dalberg, a social impact advisory group, whose results were published on Monday, July 5. The study found that only 24 percent of the earners were women before the pandemic, but 43 percent of those still struggling for recovery due to the epidemic are women.
87 lakh women lost jobs
According to the report, as of October 2020, 87 lakh of the women who worked before the pandemic did not have work, that is, their jobs were lost. On average, women lost two-thirds of their income during the lockdown. According to Dalberg Advisors and report writer Sweta Totapalli, the impact of Corona on women is shocking but not surprising. According to Sweta, it has become clear that the help of the government is very important to get women out of this crisis.
