The Honda Prologue will be the company’s first fully electric SUV and will be first introduced in North America. With the launch of this SUV, the company will compete with companies like Tesla, Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota.
Honda Prologue
Japanese carmaker Honda has announced its first electric SUV, which will be named Honda Prologue. This SUV will be sold in North America in 2024. The meaning of ‘Prologue’ in this electric SUV from Honda signifies the beginning of Honda’s new electrified era. Honda may have been cautious about its approach towards electric mobility, but now the company does not want to be left behind in the race for electric vehicles.
More details about the Honda Prologue will come in the coming months but it has been confirmed that this could be the debut of the company’s battery-powered option. Dave Gardner, Executive Vice President, Honda Americas, said, “Our first volume will mark our transition to Honda BEV electrification, and the name Honda Prologue signifies the role we will play in driving our zero-emission future.”
He further added that Prologue will provide our customers with a battery-electric SUV with excellent functionality and packaging that they have come to expect from Honda.

With the launch of electric vehicles, Honda will compete with companies like Tesla, Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota. The electric vehicles market in America is growing rapidly and sales are also increasing. The subsidy being offered for this has made electric vehicles more popular than ever. Even Chinese companies are trying to get rewards by joining it. In such a situation, people felt that Honda was behind in this matter. However, the company has already launched the Honda e in select European markets.
Planning to become 100% zero emission company by 2040
Honda plans to sell completely zero-emission vehicles in North America by 2040. In April this year, Honda Global CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, announced a vision to achieve carbon-neutrality for its products and corporate activities by 2050, including the key goal of selling electrified vehicles. The road ahead may not be easy, but it certainly promises to be charged.
