Tata Nexon EV
Tata Motors has rolled out new updates on its popular Nexon EV without any major announcements. Along with the latest changes, the car gets new alloy wheels. There have also been changes in the dashboard layout and infotainment system of the car. Earlier, the domestic automaker has also updated the ICE-operated Nexon and Altroz by removing the controls on the infotainment screen.
With the new update, the Nexon EV’s physical buttons and knobs that used to control many functions of the 7-inch infotainment screen have now been removed. Earlier, it had 6 buttons and two rotary knobs which were placed below the AC vents. These buttons and knobs have been replaced with ‘Nexon’ branding in Chrome. While the buttons were used to control various functions such as Home, Favorites, Back, Next, Smartphone and Back functions, knobs were used to control the volume and radio tuner.
The company has now updated all the work functionality inside the infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment system runs Tata’s Connect Next OS with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There is also the Zconnect app which has over 35 connected car features.
New Nexon EV gets these updates
Absence of buttons, knobs provide a cleaner look inside the Nexon EV but at the same time, it also takes away the freedom and convenience of physical buttons in the name of cleaner look. Also, it may take some time for the drivers to adjust to the new functionality. Apart from these dashboard-focused updates, the Nexon EV now also comes with a dual-tone, five-spoke design with new alloy wheels. For the record, the first car featured an 8-spoke design on the wheels. However, the tire size has been kept unchanged at 215/60 R16.
Tata’s Nexon EV is the best selling electric passenger vehicle in the country. As of April 2021, Tata has managed to retail a total of 4,000+ units of the battery-powered SUV. A dark edition of the Nexon EV is also expected to arrive in the next few months.
