Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Monday became the latest manufacturer to extend the warranty and free service period for its motorcycles and scooters amid lockdowns and restrictions that apply to the COVID-19 and almost every state in India.
Honda announced in a press statement that in view of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, all benefits for customers in India are being extended till 31 July. This is valid for the free service, warranty and extended warranty of the vehicle which was to expire from 1 April to 31 May 2021. Assuring customers facing restrictions on movement in several states, HMSI said that they can avail these services at their convenience by 31 July 2021.
HMSI said that this initiative has been taken to help Indian customers in this difficult time. Even workshops and dealerships are mostly closed due to the spread of COVID-19 and the lockdown caused by the second wave of infection.
Mahindra and Hyundai also extended warranty period
Almost every major car and two-wheeler manufacturer in the country has announced a similar deadline to reach customers at the present time of the challenge and to ensure that they remain in the safety of their homes. Apart from Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai have also announced to extend the warranty and free service for two months. Companies have taken this decision in view of the increasing cases of COVID-19.
Things are difficult for the auto sector once again
Last year, the national lockdown saw the production and sales of vehicles collapse, but in the post-2020 segment, the Indian auto industry was seen making a comeback. This year, however, the situation has once again become difficult for the auto sector and there is currently no national lockdown, but most states enforcing strict restrictions mean that a near halt has once again become ubiquitous.
Explain that while expanding its premium motorcycle range in the country, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India introduced CB650R model motorcycle in the domestic market some time back. He has also launched the updated variants of his 649 cc engine capacity Walli motorcycle, R 650R. The CBR 650R and CB650R are priced at showrooms in Gurugram at Rs 8.88 lakh and Rs 8.67 lakh respectively. HMSI said that many improvements have been made to the 2021 model of the CBR 650R.
