Bharat Biotech said on Sunday that its COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin has been found to be effective against corona virus strains found in India and Britain. Citing a publication published in the Medical Journal Clinical Infectious Disease, the Hyderabad-based vaccine giant said that vaccination with cocaine works against all new variants exposed, including B.1.617 and B.1.1.7. Which were first identified in India and Britain respectively.

It further states that the study was done in agreement with the National Institute of Virology and the Indian Council of Medical Research. In a tweet, Bharat Biotech’s co-founder and joint managing director said that covaxin has again received international recognition, given by scientific research data, which has been shown to protect against its new variants. He has also tagged many people including PMO India, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in the tweet.
Bharat Biotech said that the study revealed that against B.1.617, the neutralization factor decreased by 1.95 when compared to the vaccine variant D614G. It further states that despite this deduction, the neutralizing level against B.1.617 exceeded the levels required to be safe.
