The telecom department has earned Rs 5000 crore from Jio, Vodafone and Airtel in the form of license fees and spectrum usage charges for the January-March quarter. According to the Economic Times report, all the three telecom operators have paid it on time and there has been no delay. Charges for this quarter were to be paid by 25 March and these companies paid ahead of time.
Earlier in the quarter, Vodafone Idea had delayed payment, but this time it paid it on time. At present, every circle has billed on the basis of three months’ revenue. The task of making the final bill is with the Department of Telecommunications. In the earlier quarters, almost the same amount was paid by these companies.
AGR of thousands of crores is also owed
In the December quarter, Airtel paid 1600 crores, Jio paid 2000 crores and Vodafone Idea paid 1000 crores. Explain that Airtel owes a total of 26000 crore rupees and Vodafone 50400 crore rupees as AGR DU. However, these companies have been given 10 years time to pay for it. Both the companies have filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the dues. They say that this arrears is more than their calculus. At present, the matter has not been heard in the court yet.
