Rally has been taken out in many parts of the country for women in Australia (Women’s March in Australia). In which women appeared wearing black clothes.
In Australia, people have demonstrated in the capital Canberra and other cities on Monday to demand justice for women, malicious treatment of them in the workplace and reduction of risk. These demonstrations took place in the backdrop of the controversy that arose after two allegations of misdemeanor.
Hundreds of people demonstrated in front of the Parliament House in the capital Canberra. They had placards in their hands, which wrote, ‘Justice for women’ and ‘Men should confess their crime’ (Women March in Australia). Most of these protesters were women and they were wearing black clothes as a protest.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison rejected the demand to address the protesters. But he agreed to meet a delegation of protesters in his office. However, it has not been met.
Jenin Hendrai, one of the organizers of the demonstration, said, “We have already come to your door, now it is up to the government to cross the frame and come to us.” He said, ‘We do not want to have a closed-door meeting (Women’s March Australia).’
It is noteworthy that Morrison has supported his Attorney General Christian Porter, who is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in 1988. Then he himself was 17 years old. However, Porter has denied these allegations.
The woman accusing him had allegedly committed suicide after withdrawing a complaint lodged with the police last year (Women’s March 2021 Australia). Similarly, Defense Minister Linda Reynold is also facing criticism for not giving proper assistance to the raped woman in her office in the year 2019.
The victim alleges that she was raped by a senior employee in the minister’s office in Parliament House in 2019. According to this woman, she had two options. He either quit his government job and filed a police complaint or kept quiet and made a career. He quit his job in January and filed a police complaint.
