By 2025, the requirement of digitally skilled employees in India will increase nine-fold. India’s average employees will have to learn seven new digital skills according to technology updates and industry demand by 2025. In this way, from 2020 to 2025, 3.9 billion people will need digital skill training. This has been revealed in the new research report of Amazon’s company Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS). According to research, at present, the number of employees equipped with digital skills in India is 13 percent of the total employees.
According to AWS report ‘Unlocking APAC’s Digital Potential: Changing Digital Skill Needs and Policy Approaches’, digital skills are essential for non-technical sectors like manufacturing and education. In the manufacturing sector, digital skills such as cloud architect design and the ability to create software and web applications like original digital content will be in great demand by 2025. This report has been prepared by the strategy and economic consulting firm Alphabeeta and released by AWS.
More than 50 percent of digital workers in the manufacturing sector believe that they will need these skills further. The ability to develop digital security, cyber forensic tools and technology will be a very important skill in the education sector. In view of the increasing use of internet for teaching and learning in remote areas, it has also become necessary to ensure that schools, teachers and students are able to deal with cyber attacks.
Need training in cloud computing
According to the report, 76 percent of digital employees in India are still expected to train in cloud computing. It will be very important to specialize in this technique for digital employees to do their jobs to the best of their ability. Cloud architecture design, software operations support, website / game / software development / large scale data modeling and cyber security skills are among the five most in-demand digital skills in India.
