House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, despatched subpoenas to 5 Big Tech corporations on Wednesday, demanding communications between the businesses and the U.S. authorities to “understand how and to what extent the Executive Branch coerced and colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech.”
The subpoenas, issued to the CEOs of Google guardian Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta and Microsoft, come simply months after Jordan initially requested the businesses hand over such info voluntarily. Jordan gave the businesses a deadline of March 23 to adjust to the calls for.
“Your response without compulsory process has been woefully inadequate,” Jordan wrote within the letters.
