Hot on the heels of their closing televised showdown, Geoff Diehl challenged Maura Healey to a 3rd gubernatorial debate, saying that the Democrat’s “radical opinions on important issues” had been stored “hidden” from voters in previous boards.
But Healey isn’t biting, along with her marketing campaign saying that voters had ample alternative to see her Republican opponent’s true colours of their earlier encounters.
“People have had the opportunity to hear Geoff Diehl’s extreme pro-Trump, anti-choice views during two televised debates,” stated Karissa Hand, a Healey marketing campaign spokesperson of the Trump-backed former state consultant.
“Maura looks forward to taking her case directly to voters for the final two weeks of the campaign,” she added.
The two final debated on Thursday, once they clashed over quite a few points together with the surroundings, heating prices, a proposed surtax on the rich, abortion and the 2020 presidential election end result.
Diehl issued the controversy problem on Friday, saying that the legal professional basic and her operating mate, Kim Driscoll, had been being dishonest about wanting to chop taxes.
He stated voters needs to be made conscious of their “extreme” positions on points like COVID mandates, issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants, and “energy polices that will bankrupt the state.”
“Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll are running a stealth campaign where their radical opinions on important issues are being hidden from the voters, I believe purposefully,” Diehl stated in an announcement.
According to Diehl’s marketing campaign, Driscoll, at present the mayor of Salem, declined an invite to debate her opponent for lieutenant governor, Leah Allen.
His marketing campaign stated the Oct. 24 WBZ radio debate was the one one Driscoll and Allen had agreed upon, and Driscoll didn’t reply to calls to reschedule.
“If Kim Driscoll is going to dodge debates, I believe the only way for voters to know where Healey and Driscoll really stand is for Maura Healey to debate me a third time,” Diehl stated.
Driscoll’s marketing campaign didn’t reply to a request for remark.
A Suffolk University ballot launched final week confirmed Healey holding a 23-point lead over Diehl amongst doubtless voters.
The election is Nov. 8.
