Old Ingledew Whiskey is believed to be the oldest whiskey on earth. Online auction for this old wine is going to be held from 22 to 30 June. Auctioneer Skinner says that it is a historic bourbon whiskey. It is the only bottle left and was gifted by JP Morgan to a powerful man in Washington in the 1940s.
250 years old wine
According to the University of Georgia, this wine is at least 200 to 250 years old. Experts say that there is every possibility that this wine was made between 1762 and 1802. According to the assessment of the University of Glasgow, it was also prepared between 1763 and 1803. Accordingly, this bottle of wine is a part of the historic Revolutionary War that broke out in the 1770s and the Whiskey Rebellion that began around 1790.
Bidding may take from 15 to 30 lakhs
Online bids will be made for this rare wine from June 22 to 30. It is believed that it can be bid for 20 to 40 thousand dollars i.e. 15 to 30 lakh rupees. However, it is not clear where this wine was produced.
Its story is interesting
According to the information, a financier named John Pierpont Morgan bought this bottle of wine during his visit to Georgia. It is believed that this bottle was filled in the city named LaGrange. Where there is an old tradition of storing liquor for a long time. Jack Morgan gave it to James Bryans of South Carolina as a gift for auction. In addition, two other bottles were gifted by Morgan to his distant brothers, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, around 1940. Later Bryans gave this bottle to a close friend of his, Francis Drake. Francis’ family preserved this bottle for three generations.
