Some experts say that the WHO-led investigation is bound to fail because this agency works on the basis of requests from countries.
WHO will once investigate the origin of corona (indicative picture)
The World Health Organization has made plans for the next phase of investigation to find out how the coronavirus pandemic began, but in the meantime many scientists say that the United Nations’ The agency is not suitable for this job and it should not investigate it.
Several experts, including experts with strong ties to the WHO, say political tensions between the US and China have made it impossible for the agency to conduct investigations aimed at finding credible answers. The first part of a WHO-China joint study to trace the origins of COVID-19 concluded in March that the virus was likely transmitted from animals to humans and that the likelihood of it being leaked from the laboratory is “very low”.
Joe Biden ordered an investigation
In the next phase of the investigation, an attempt will be made to find out in detail the first case of this virus in humans or which animal is responsible for it. It is believed that the corona virus probably spread from bats. The possibility of this epidemic starting in the laboratory recently gained momentum when President Joe Biden ordered the US Intelligence Service to investigate it within 90 days.
Earlier this month the WHO’s head of emergencies, Dr. Michael Ryan, said the agency was working on finalizing the details of the next phase of its investigation and as the WHO works on a ‘request from countries’. If so, it does not have the power to compel China to cooperate in the investigation.
test failure
Some experts say this is the reason why the WHO-led investigation is bound to fail. Lawrence Gostin, director of the WHO’s Collaborative Center on Public Health Law and Human Rights at Georgetown University, said that we will never be able to trace its origins to the World Health Organization. China has been ignoring him for a year and a half and it is clear that he will never get to the bottom of it.
