Iraq on US Army: Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said his country no longer needed US forces to fight Islamic State, but a formal deadline for their redeployment was announced this week by US officials. Depends on the outcome of the negotiations. Al-Kadhimi said Iraq would still need US training and military intelligence services.

He made these comments in an interview in the wake of his visit to Washington. He is scheduled to meet US President Joe Biden on Monday for the fourth phase of the Strategic Dialogue (America Iran Relations). ‘There is no need for any foreign forces on Iraqi soil,’ al-Qadimi said. However, he did not specify any time frame for the withdrawal of US forces. He said Iraqi security forces and forces are capable of defending the country without the US-led coalition forces.

Will meet at White House on Monday

Al-Kadhimi, however, said the withdrawal would depend on the need for Iraqi forces (US Fight With ISIS in Iraq). “The war against Islamic State and the preparation of our military require a specific timetable and will depend on the talks in Washington,” he said. This time frame is likely to be clarified in the meeting between the two leaders at the White House on Monday.

may return by the end of the year

It is expected that by the end of this year, the US Army may withdraw. There are 2,500 US troops in Iraq. Last year, former President Donald Trump ordered the withdrawal of 3,000 soldiers. It is worth noting that former US President Barack Obama had decided to send troops to Iraq in 2014. The decision was taken after Islamic State took control of large parts of western and northern Iraq. America also sent its army to fight Taliban terrorists. Which has been called back from there. About 95 percent of the soldiers have returned.
