Amidst the ongoing Taliban violence in Afghanistan, the path of the withdrawal of US troops is seen to be difficult. US President Joe Biden has said that the withdrawal of troops is difficult, but it should not take long. Significantly, according to the agreement reached between former President Donald Trump and the Taliban, the US has to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by 1 May.
President Joe Biden has said that it will be difficult for the US to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by May 1. But it will not take much time for the army to come back completely. In an interview with ABC News to George Stephanopoulos, Biden said that he was discussing the issue of the withdrawal of the military with his colleagues. When asked about the withdrawal of troops by the deadline, he said, it is possible but difficult. He said that if the time limit is extended then this process will not take much time.
NATO troops will be in trouble due to the withdrawal of US troops
Joe Biden, like his predecessor, has promised the American public that the struggle that has been going on for nearly 20 years will be ended. Also, more than 2500 American soldiers will be brought back from Afghanistan. A year ago, about 13 thousand American soldiers were stationed in Afghanistan. Due to the agreement made by the Taliban with Trump, many American allies fell into the battlefield alone without any protection. In fact, about seven thousand NATO troops in Afghanistan depend on American support for security and logistics.
Trump’s agreement with Taliban is not solid
In an ABC News interview, Biden said the agreement reached by the former president with the Taliban was not concrete. We are constantly talking to our partners and governments in this regard. The decision process is currently underway. Let me tell you that after Al Qaeda attacked America’s World Trade Center in the year 2001, he took down his troops in Afghanistan to eliminate this terrorist organization.
