Kiev. Russian troops entered Ukraine’s capital Kiev early on Saturday and a riot broke out in the streets, while local officials urged people to hide. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s president has refused to accept the US offer to leave and insisted that he stay in the capital.
Meanwhile, now the common people have taken up guns for the defense of Kiev. They are keeping an eye on the movement of Russian soldiers by being stationed at home, on the roofs and on the streets. Many of them have not slept for two nights and are busy protecting their homeland. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that tonight will decide the future of the country. He appealed to the public that they must stand firm to stop the Russians.

“The war is on here,” he said. The clashes that broke out after two days of fighting have left hundreds of people dead and heavy damage to bridges, schools and apartment buildings. US officials believe Russian President Vladimir Putin is determined to overthrow Ukraine’s government and bring it under his rule. The attack represents Putin’s boldest attempt to draw a new map of the world and revive the influence of Moscow’s Cold War era.
As a result, new international efforts have begun to end the offensive, including direct sanctions on Putin. Torn apart by explosions and gunshots, the future of Kiev is in the balance. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a ceasefire and, in a desperate statement, warned that several cities in the country were under attack. According to a senior US intelligence official, Zelensky has been advised by the US administration to leave Kiev, but he has turned it down. Officials are directly involved in this matter.
“The war is on and they need anti-artillery ammunition, not advice to flee,” the official quoted the Ukrainian president as saying. Meanwhile, the authorities in Kiev have appealed to the people to seek shelter somewhere. Stay away from windows and take care to avoid flying debris and bullets. The Kremlin has accepted Kiev’s offer of negotiations, but it appears to be forcing the embattled Zelensky into force rather than a diplomatic solution.
On Friday, Russian forces continued to advance, claiming the city of Melitopol in southern Ukraine. Nevertheless, it was unclear in the war how much of Ukraine was still under Ukrainian control and how much or what part was occupied by Russian forces.
