    Two extra Australian universities – Federation University in Victoria and New South Wales’s Western Sydney University — have barred the recruitment of Indian college students from some Indian states citing an increase within the variety of fraudulent visa functions. The universities introduced the event through separate statements on Thursday. The ban was introduced simply days earlier than Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Australia go to, throughout which numerous individuals from the diaspora turned up for the neighborhood occasion.

    According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the 2 universities have requested training brokers to not recruit college students from Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

    ‘Apparent rise in fraudulent applications’

    The newest transfer comes a month after a number of Australian universities, akin to Victoria University, Edith Edith Cowan University, Torrens University, and Southern Cross University, reportedly applied measures to deal with an obvious rise in fraudulent functions from sure Indian states. 

    “A large number of Indian students who commenced study in 2022 intakes have not remained enrolled, resulting in a significantly high attrition rate,” the Western Sydney University informed brokers in a message despatched on May 8.
