He had informed the CIA about the pinpoint location of Osama bin Laden under the guise of vaccination program. Dr. Afridi has been kept locked in Sahiwal Jail located in Punjab province of Pakistan. Hussein Haqqani, who was Pakistan’s ambassador to Washington during Osama’s killing, said that he is now being held in jail so that every Pakistani can be taught a lesson of not cooperating with the Western Intelligence Agency. Officials made Dr. Afridi a scapegoat before Osama’s presence in Pakistan could be questioned. The news agency AFP has extracted information about Dr. Afridi’s brother and his daily routine in jail through his lawyer.

Dr. Afridi is not allowed to talk to anyone in jail. He is only able to talk to his legal team and family members. According to the family, he exercises daily in captivity. He has Quran Sharif, which he reads daily. Apart from this, they are not given to any other book. His beard and hair are cut in the presence of guards. There is a ban on meeting fellow prisoners. Family members are allowed to meet only twice a month.
CIA launches vaccine campaign for Osama’s DNA through Dr. Afridi
Dr Afridi CIA, coming from the rugged tribal areas of Pakistan, found a better person, who could spy on bin Laden’s whereabouts in Abbottabad. The CIA wanted proof of Osama being there. In this way, the CIA started the vaccine campaign through Dr. Afridi, so that DNA samples could be taken from Osama’s hideout. At the same time, Pakistani authorities arrested Dr. Afridi just weeks after Osama was killed.
Dr. Afridi is serving a 33-year prison sentence
No action was taken against Dr. Afridi in the case related to Osama. In fact, a tribal court accused Dr. Afridi of providing money to a rebel group under a colonial era law. After this, he was convicted and sentenced to 33 years. The US administration protested about his detention. America tried to bring them in place of prisoners, but this deal could never be done.
