A WHO official said that the corona vaccine appears to be less effective against the worrying variant ‘delta variant’ of corona. Due to this, cases have also increased in many countries of the world.
The COVID-19 Vaccine seems to be less effective against the Delta Variant of Coronavirus. An epidemiologist of the World Health Organization (WHO) gave this information on Monday. However, vaccines are still effective in preventing serious illness and death from this dangerous infection. WHO official said, ‘a bunch of mutations’ may happen in future. This would mean that the vaccine may lose its potency against fighting the coronavirus.
The Delta plus variant has arisen due to mutations in the Delta (Delta plus variant) or B.1.617.2 variant. This variant has been considered responsible for bringing the second wave of corona in India. Apart from this, there has been an increase in cases of rapid infection due to this variant in many countries including Britain. This rapidly spreading variant has been listed by the WHO as the fourth variant of concern. Due to this variant, the number of daily corona cases in Britain has crossed 10,000.
Due to the Delta variant, the date for lifting the lockdown in the UK has been extended
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned on Monday that this year’s winter is looking tough, even if things are looking good for July 19. July 19 is believed to be the so-called terminus point, the day on which all the restrictions of the lockdown implemented in the country will be relieved. His warning has come at a time when 9,284 corona cases were reported in Britain on Sunday itself. Due to the delta variant, the government has had to delay by a month in removing the lockdown.
In Russia-Portugal too, cases increased due to delta variants
Russian officials have also blamed the Delta variant for the continuous increase in corona cases in the country. More than 17,000 cases have been reported for the fourth consecutive day. Along with this, the officials have also accepted that the campaign encouraging people for vaccination does not seem to be benefiting. President Vladimir Putin warned on Monday that the situation in some regions of Russia was worsening due to the coronavirus.
Apart from this, Portuguese officials have also confirmed that the area of the capital Lisbon has seen an increase in infections due to delta variants. The National Health Institute of Portugal said that the delta variant is responsible for 60 percent of the cases reported in the country’s capital.
