During the hearing, Humayun Khan, the owner of the dogs, appeared in the court in a wheelchair. The court had asked his lawyer whether he had a license to keep dogs.

Two pet dogs will be killed for attacking an elderly and senior lawyer who went for a morning walk in the posh area of Karachi. The ‘death sentence’ awarded to the two pets found ‘guilty’ is part of an out-of-court deal between the injured senior lawyer and the pet’s owner.
To settle the dispute, an agreement has been reached between the senior lawyer and the dog owner according to which the injured lawyer Mirza Akhtar Ali has agreed to pardon the dog owner Humayun Khan on certain conditions. Like, Humayun Khan tendered an unconditional apology to Mirza Akhtar Ali, Humayun Khan and his family would not keep any dangerous or cruel dog as a pet in the house.
‘Death’ sought for dogs in condition
Subject to the condition that any other dog kept as a pet shall be registered with the Clifton Cantonment Board (the municipal agency of the area) and shall not be taken out on the streets without a properly trained handler, and shall not be allowed to be used every time when outside. Time should be a strap around their neck. Also, the dogs involved in the incident should be euthanized immediately by a veterinarian.
The stipulation also included that Humayun would release all the other dogs he has and donate Rs 1,000,000 to a local non-profit organization working for the shelter and protection of stray dogs in Karachi. The CCTV footage of the incident shows that Advocate Mirza Ali Akhtar was walking in the neighborhood of Phase 6 Defense Housing Authority when two dogs attacked him and threw him to the ground.

The caretaker ran away leaving the injured lawyer on the road
Another man, who seemed to be a caregiver of the dogs, tried hard to separate the animals from Ali, but to no avail. The caretaker ran to find the other man and then both of them rescued the lawyer from the dogs. It is seen in the footage that both the caretakers left the injured lawyer on the road and took the dogs.
