Usually employees are given their salary in the form of back transfer or cash, but when the workers working in a factory in Venezuela city of Philippines, when they come to collect their salary at the end of the month, they are given as salary. A plastic bag full of coins was caught. After the video of the laborers went viral, people expressed sympathy for them on social media.
The video of the workers reached the local administration, after which the business permit of the company was suspended, taking strict action on the matter. The whole matter is about Nexgreen Enterprise Factory of Philippines. Russell Manosa, who works here, has been given some coins as salary by the company. Hurt by such abusive treatment of Russell, his cousin wrote about the incident on Facebook and sought cooperation from officials and workers’ unions.
The company took revenge from the employees
Russell Manosa was quoted as saying by CBN News that the factory took revenge on the workers by cutting salaries as they complained about unfair labor rules in the factory. The matter has come to light from a Facebook post by Russell’s brother, and even Venezuelan City Mayor Rex Gachalion has taken notice. He termed it as ‘brutal’ labor and said that he vows that he himself will investigate the matter and take action against the company as per appropriate law. The mayor met the employee of the company and called a meeting to find a solution to the problem.
Company owner apologized
In the meeting, the mayor asked the company officials why they paid the workers with five and ten cents. He termed this behavior as ‘disrespectful’ and against the dignity of the employees. In fact, coins are not used in the Philippines for payments of more than 100 cents. Some reports are claiming that the owner of the company, Jasper Cheng, said that he was not aware of this.
The company said that the employees have been paid salaries in coins by mistake. He also apologized for this. The mayor said that the owner of the company has been warned. Such behavior will not be tolerated in the city. According to the mayor, the company has not paid Russell the correct minimum wage, overtime pay, night shift differences and for work done on holidays.
