The day of 26 March is very important for Bangladesh. This is the date when Bangladesh got a place on the world map as an independent country. Earlier it used to be a part of Pakistan, and even before that of independent India. Before partition, Bangladesh used to be a part of India in the form of Bengal, which resulted in the division of India into two parts.
The Hindu-dominated area came into India, which we know today as West Bengal. At the same time, the second part of the Muslim majority came in the part of Pakistan, which is today’s Bangladesh. The question here is natural that this eastern part as Bangladesh Cut from Pakistan in the world map Bangladesh as How did a new country be formed?
When Pakistan split in two
For the answer to this question, we have to go back and look at Pakistan after partition. In the part of Pakistan which went to the part of Bengal of independent India, there was a large number of Bengali speakers. Whereas, the rest of the area was dominated by Sindhi, Pathan, Baloch and Mujahirs. This is the reason that Pakistan is divided into two parts as West Pakistan and East Pakistan.
Further politics started and East Pakistan was completely ignored due to language etc. As a result, resentment within the people of East Pakistan was born, Which came to the fore during the general elections held in Pakistan in the year 1970. In this election, the people of Mujibur Rahman’s party East Pakistan Awami League showed confidence and won the victory.
When Pakistani army started repression
This was not acceptable to the top leaders of West Pakistan. They Refused to accept these results and With the support of the army, people of East Pakistan started to be suppressed. In response, people took to the streets and started the movement. Pakistan’s army became tyrannical to suppress it.
All the leaders of East Pakistan including Mujib were put in jail. At the same time, people of his party were tortured a lot. With the members of Awami League From east Pakistan About one crore people came as refugees to the Indian border. As well as India Asked for help from the government. In response, on 31 March 1971, Indira Gandhi spoke of helping all the refugees.
Results of 1971 Indo-Pak war
When the Pakistani Army came to know about this, it made up its mind to take action against India. On the other hand, the Indian Army also started its preparations. She was ready for the match. Finally, on 3 December 1971, Pakistan invaded India. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply to this attack.
As a result, on 16 December 1971, the Pakistan Army was forced to kneel. With this, a new country emerged as Bangladesh on the world map. Further on 26 March 1971, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared Bangladesh as an independent country, which is on the path of progress. On 6 December 1971, India recognized Bangladesh as an independent country!
