UN Security Council

The command of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is going to be in the hands of India for a full month from August 1. India has to preside over the Security Council for the whole month. During this, India is going to take a tough stand on the issue of maritime security, global peace and terrorism. At the same time, ever since Pakistan came to know about India taking over the presidency of the UNSC, the neighboring country’s stomach has started hurting since then. Actually, Pakistan is fearing that India can attack terror and surround it on the global stage.

Pakistan on Saturday expressed hope that India will preside over the UNSC following international rules and regulations. The Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson made this statement in response to a question related to India taking over the Presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of August. “We hope that India will comply with the relevant rules and regulations during the presidency of the Security Council,” the Foreign Office said. India’s presidency in August will be its first time as a non-permanent member of the Security Council during the 2021-22 term.

What did the neighboring country say?

According to the report of Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry, while answering a question, said that India will act fairly during his tenure as the chairman of the UNSC. He said that India will abide by the relevant rules and norms governing the conduct of the chairmanship of the Council during the tenure. At the same time, Pakistan, who chanted Kashmir melody everywhere, also chanted this melody in this issue as well. Choudhary said, India has taken over the presidency. So we would like to remind him that he should implement the UNSC resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

India will become the President of UNSC in December next year also

Let us inform that India’s two-year term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council began on January 1, 2021. India will then chair the Security Council again in December next year, the last month of its two-year term in the Security Council. During its presidency, India will organize high-level programs in three key areas – shipping security, peacekeeping and counter-terrorism.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti, in a video message on the eve of taking over the recurring presidency of the 15-member powerful UN body, said maritime security is a high priority for India and it is important for the Security Council to He should take a holistic approach on this.
