Joe Biden has said that the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan will be completed by August 31. Earlier this date was fixed as September 11.
US President Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that America’s military mission in Afghanistan will end on August 31. He said that the policy of ‘speed is security’ is being followed in this. In this way the war that has been going on for 20 years will finally end. Referring to his administration’s efforts to end America’s war in Afghanistan, Biden said in a speech, “We did not go to Afghanistan to build a nation.” Afghan leaders have to come together and build the future.
Biden justified his decision to end the US military operation as the Taliban made progress on key targets in the country. Significantly, the Taliban is creating frenzy in Afghanistan and since the announcement of the withdrawal of US troops, so far, about 100 areas have been captured. The situation has become so bad that 1,500 Afghan soldiers have fled to neighboring countries. At the same time, instead of helping the Afghan army, America is leaving the country rapidly. Biden has announced that military operations will end by August 31.
Nothing was achieved by the war that lasted for 20 years
Earlier, the US Troops Withdrawal deadline was September 11 for US troops to leave Afghanistan. Now Biden has ordered soldiers to leave Afghanistan before the deadline. He said that now not a single soldier should be killed in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the US President has also accepted that America has not gained anything from this war that lasted for 20 years. During the presence of American troops in Afghanistan for 20 years, the Taliban did not become as powerful as it is now after their departure.
Taliban and Afghan government should make peace agreement
The US President has also acknowledged that it is not right to trust the Taliban. He said there was no need for the Afghan government to be able to control the entire country after the US left. He called on the Taliban and the Afghan government to sign a peace deal. Biden said, we did not go there to build Afghanistan. Afghan leaders must come together and build the future. The US President said that this is a war that cannot be won and there is no military solution to it.
