Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will go on a two-day visit to Pakistan on Tuesday. During this, Lavrov will discuss bilateral relations with the top leadership of the neighbouring country and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. However, this visit of the Russian foreign minister is also important because he is going to discuss the situation of the war-torn country in Pakistan with Pakistan over peace and tranquility. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that this visit of Loverov is going to be the first Pakistani visit by a Russian foreign minister in nine years. Qureshi said that he himself would go to the airport to head the Russian foreign minister. The last time Sergei Lovrov visited Islamabad in 2012. Gas pipeline project will also be discussed
Qureshi said that both countries want to pursue the North South Gas pipeline project, which has been in discussion for quite some time. He further said that the Pakistan Steel Mill was established in Karachi with Russian help and there is an opportunity to cooperate to get it out of the current financial crisis. The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that Pakistan and Russia are now playing an important role in the Afghan peace process.
Lovrov will meet with Imran and Bajwa
Pakistani Foreign Minister said that Lovrov is visiting Pakistan after visiting India. Russia has historical relations with India. It can convince India to play a positive role in the Afghan peace process. Qureshi said that he would hold delegation-level talks with the Russian foreign minister.
