new Delhi: Due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, Western countries including America have imposed many sanctions on Russia. Meanwhile, a different breed of cats bred in Russia has also been banned. It is reported that the International Cat Fencer Society – Federation Internationale Felines (FIFe) has banned Russian cats in response to Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
According to ANI, the executive board of the NGO, FIFe, said in a statement that, it was “shocked and horrified” that “Russian forces invaded Ukraine and started the war.” A statement further said that many innocent people were killed, many were injured and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes to save their lives. We can all see the devastation and chaos caused by this unprecedented attack.

The board has decided that, no cat breed in Russia shall be imported and registered in any FIFe pedigree outside Russia, the statement said. The statement further said that, any cat belonging to exhibitors residing in Russia may not be allowed to enter any FIFe show outside Russia, regardless of which organization these exhibitors hold their membership. These restrictions are valid till May 31 and will be reviewed if needed. FIFA’s board also decided that it would devote a portion of its budget to supporting cat breeders and fanciers in Ukraine who are suffering due to the current situation, the statement said.
