Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa (Qamar Javed Bajwa) has reached Saudi Arabia. Bajwa has arrived in Riyadh at a time when Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to visit important Saudi Arabia in a few days. It is believed that Imran is going to reach Riyadh on May 7 on the call of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Imran can seek further deferment to repay the $ 3 billion loan given by Saudi Arabia on this tour.
Pakistani officials said Bajwa was led by recently appointed Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Lieutenant-General (Retired) Bilal Akbar and Saudi military officials. Bajwa is expected to meet Saudi Arabia’s top civilian and military leadership on this tour. It is believed that this meeting is being done as part of the preparations for Imran’s scheduled visit to Riyadh. The visit of Bajwa and Imran’s visit to Riyadh is considered important, as it can be an attempt to remove the snow on Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s relations.
Declaration seen in the relationship between the two countries
There has been a long-standing strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. But in recent years, there has been a deterioration in the relationship between the two countries. The first rift in this relationship was seen when Pakistan refused to include Pakistani troops in the war in Yemen under the leadership of Saudi. However, relations became somewhat normal after Islamabad joined the Saudi-led Islamic Military Alliance against terrorism. However, the historic relationship between the two countries suffered a severe setback in 2019, in fact, Pakistan supported Malaysia’s initiative to build a rival block of Muslim nations.
When Saudi asked Pakistan to pay the debt
However, before Pakistan could participate in the summit of this block, Saudi Arabia warned him of the consequences. Relations between the two countries also became tense when Riyadh said that Islamabad should pay its three billion dollar debt as soon as possible. It was extremely rare to say that Saudi Arabia paid the debt, because usually either the kingdom forgives it or converts it into charity. However, this decision of Saudi Arabia inflated the hands and feet of Imran Khan, because the government treasury is lying empty.
