Authorities in France have launched a judicial inquiry into allegations of corruption in the sale of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft to India. This information has been received according to the French website Mediapart. Mediapart said on Friday that a judge has been appointed for this very sensitive judicial inquiry. According to the report, corruption and favoritism are being alleged in the deal.
According to Mediapart, a judicial inquiry has been launched into suspected corruption in the case of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft worth 7.8 billion euros to India in 2016.

It said an agreement was signed between the governments in 2016, which opened on June 14. Mediaport said an investigation has been launched by the National Prosecutors’ Office (PNF). According to the report, PNF initially refused to investigate the sale and Mediapart has accused it of suppressing the investigation.
Mediapart said that French anti-corruption NGO Sherpa has filed a complaint with the Paris Tribunal, alleging corruption, money laundering, favoritism regarding the deal. It said that the Financial Crimes Branch of the French Prosecution Services (PNF) confirmed to Mediapart on Friday that the investigation launched would focus on all aspects of the crime.
According to the report of Mediaport, the criminal investigation started on June 14 is being led by an independent magistrate, an independent judge. And it will examine questions about the actions of former French President François Hollande, who was in office when the Rafale deal was signed. And the current President Emmanuel Macron was the Minister of Economy and Finance in his government.
