Pak Army will be deployed in PoK (POK Elections) – symbolic picture
POK Elections News: The Pakistan Army on Thursday said it would deploy troops in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the upcoming elections to the assembly. The army said it was doing so at the request of local authorities to maintain peace. The top election officer of the region has announced to hold elections for the PoK assembly on July 25. Whereas an appeal was made to postpone the election for two months due to the corona virus epidemic.
It is worth noting that last year, Pakistan had also held assembly elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. India had criticized Pakistan for its decision to hold elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and said there was no legal basis for any action to change the status of the military-occupied region. India has bluntly told Pakistan that the entire territory of the Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including the areas of Gilgit and Baltistan, is an integral part of it.
Imran’s minister fired in the rally
During the election rally in PoK, a close leader of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had even opened fire. During the election campaign here, these leaders were attacked. Imran Khan’s close leaders Murad Saeed and Ali Amin Khan had come to Gandapur for election campaign, when some people attacked their convoy. The incident took place in Hattian Bala area. After which Gandapur came in a panic and started firing.
A tough fight with Mary’s party
Imran Khan is trying hard to win in PoK elections. But he is getting a tough competition from Maryam Nawaz’s party PMLN here. Elections are going to be held here on July 25, under which the members of the Legislative Assembly will be elected. Holding elections in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir is nothing less than a hoax, because Imran Khan is the chairman of the Kashmir Council, in this sense he is at the highest post in the region. This region has 53 seats in the Legislative Assembly, out of which 33 members are directly elected from 10 districts.
