Shaukat Tarin, a banker by profession, had earlier held the post of Finance Minister for some time even during the Government of Pakistan People’s Party (2009-10).
Imran Khan
The economy of the country is no longer stable with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran has once again made a reshuffle in the cabinet, making Shaukat Tarin the new finance minister of the country. Tarien is the fourth person to take charge of the Finance Ministry in the last two years. Imran’s office has given information about this. It is to be noted here that Imran, who took power in 2018, has reshuffled the cabinet for the sixth time in the last three years alone. Pakistani economy is divided and now the pressure on Imran is increasing.
Banker Shaukat Tarien (68) by profession has held the post of finance minister for some time during the Pakistan Peoples Party government (2009-10). However, he later resigned from the post to raise capital for his silk bank. Tareen was facing corruption charges in the past and he initially refused to accept the post. It is not yet clear whether the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has dropped the charges against him. Hamid Azhar, Tariyan’s predecessor, held the post of finance ministry for just three weeks. The post of Finance Ministry has been taken from Azhar and he has been given the responsibility of Ministry of Power.
Imran also changed these posts
At the same time, Imran has changed the positions of many people by shuffling the cabinet. His post was taken from Economic Affairs Minister Khusro Bakhtiar and now he has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Production. At the same time, former Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan has been made the Minister of Economic Affairs of Bakhtiar. Former Information Minister Shibli Faraz has replaced Fawad Chaudhary, Emraan’s favorite as Technology Minister. At the same time, Imran has reappointed Fawad Chaudhary as his information minister.
Why has there been a change in the cabinet?
The Imran government has made a change in the cabinet because it has to make a budget for the next financial year in June. It is believed that the government will implement some reforms, including the presentation of the budget in June, as well as a six billion dollar relief package from the International Monetary Fund. Pakistan’s economy has also suffered a tremendous setback due to the coronavirus epidemic. The Pakistani economy grew by 0.4 per cent in 2020.
This year, Imran Khan has been troubled by rising inflation. There is an increasing pressure on them to reduce inflation. On the other hand, the data being released about the Pakistani economy is also wooing Imran. In Pakistan, consumer inflation has gone up to 9.1 percent, while food inflation has risen to 11.6 percent. Due to all this, the people of the country are facing a lot of problems.
