Pakistan Train Accident
A horrific train accident happened in Pakistan on Monday, in which 50 people died and about 70 people were injured. Train accidents are common in Pakistan and for a long time many train accidents happen every year. Large-scale poor signal system and poor condition railway tracks are part of the country’s railway system and the governments do not pay any attention to it.
Two trains collided near Daharki, a town located in Upper Sindh’s Ghotki district, in the early hours of Monday, killing several people and injuring a large number of people, officials said. The number of deaths and injured is constantly changing. Officials said rescue teams and villagers worked to retrieve the injured and most of the bodies from the rubble.

16 March 2002 : Seven people were killed and around 15 others were injured when a train going from Lahore to Faisalabad derailed near Sheikhpura.
26 September 2002 : Seven people were killed and 57 were injured when a train derailed near Sibi. Eight coaches of the Quetta Express derailed after a railway bridge collapsed on the Sibi-Jacobabad section.
20 September 2003 : Twenty-eight people were killed and 10 others were injured when a train rammed into a bus near Malikwal in Mandi Bahauddin district.
13 July 2005 : At least 130 people were killed and around 170 injured when three passenger trains collided at Sarhad railway station, about 49 km from Sukkur.
30 January 2006 : Four people were killed and 40 were injured when a train going from Rawalpindi to Lahore derailed and six of its coaches fell into a deep gorge at Domaili near Jhelum.
19 December 2007 : 50 people died and over 200 were injured when 16 cars of Karachi Express derailed near Maharabpur, Nowsharo Firoz.
3 November 2009 : At least 18 people were killed and 45 others injured in a head-on collision with a goods train of Allama Iqbal Express in Karachi.
30 August 2011 : Three people, including the train’s assistant driver, were killed and 19 others were injured when the Karachi-bound Khyber Mail collided with a stationary passenger train, about two kilometers from Badami Bagh railway station in Lahore.
25 July 2013 : A train going from Lahore to Rawalpindi derailed near Gujranwala, killing two people and injuring several others.
7 May 2014 : Two people were killed and 15 others were injured when the Karakoram Express derailed near Bandhi railway station, about 55 km from Nawabshah.
11 November 2014 : 58 people died in a collision between a passenger coach and a truck near Theri Bypass in Khairpur.
2 July 2015 : Three bogies of a special train carrying army officers fell into the canal and another derailed after a railway bridge collapsed near Gujranwala, killing 19 people.
19 July 2015 : Six members of a family were killed when a car and a Karachi-bound train collided at an unidentified railway crossing in Matiyari’s Pale Jani railway station yard.
17 November 2015 : 19 passengers died when Jafar Express derailed on its way from Quetta to Rawalpindi.
15 September 2016 : Awam Express train bound for Karachi collided with a goods train near Multan, killing six passengers and injuring over 150.
8 October 2016 : Four people were killed, 10 others were injured when a goods train collided with a bus carrying workers of a factory at Landa level crossing near Gurjar Chowk.
3 November 2016 : The Multan to Zakaria Express collided with the Farid Express near Landi railway station from Lahore to Karachi, killing at least 22 people and injuring over 40.
6 January 2017 : A train rammed two motorized rickshaws at an uncontrolled crossing in Punjab’s Lodhran district, killing seven school children. Five children in the age group of five to eight years and a rickshaw driver were seriously injured.
28 March 2017 : The Karachi-bound Shalimar Express collided with an oil tanker in Punjab’s Sheikhupura district, killing at least two people, including the train driver, while five people were injured in the accident.
24 December 2018 : The last three coaches of the Shalimar Express derailed and a passenger was killed and six others were injured when it collided with the Millat Express parked on the adjacent track at the Reslewala train crossing in Faisalabad.
20 June 2019 : Three people were killed and several others were injured when a passenger train, Jinnah Express, collided with a goods train near Hyderabad.
11 July 2019 : The Quetta-bound Akbar Express rammed into the rear of a goods train on the loop line of Walhar railway station near Sadiqabad, killing 21 passengers and injuring 85.
31 October 2019 : A fire broke out in three coaches of the Rawalpindi-bound Tezgam Express near Rahim Yar Khan, killing 74 passengers, 90 percent of whom were burnt alive, and over 40 injured.
28 February 2020 : At least 19 people were killed and more than 30 others were seriously injured when a bus crossing an unmanned railway crossing from Karachi to Lahore-bound Pakistan Express rammed into a bus.
3 July 2020 : At least 20 people were killed when Shah Hussain Express train collided with a coaster near Sheikhupura in Punjab. About 30 people were going from Nankana Sahib to Peshawar, out of which 13 men and seven women died in this accident. The dead included 19 Sikh pilgrims and the driver of the vehicle.
7 March 2021 : Several coaches of the Lahore-bound Karachi Express derailed between Mando Dero and Sanghi railway stations near Rohri, killing at least one person and injuring 30 others.
