Islamabad. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday called India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s reply in Parliament about the “sudden firing” of a missile as “incomplete and inadequate”. Rejected stating that and once again demanded a joint inquiry into the incident.
Addressing a press conference here, Qureshi detailed the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being organized by Pakistan on March 22-23 as well as the missile launch from India on March 9. talked to.
Reiterating the demand made by Islamabad last week, Qureshi said, “What the Defense Minister of India said in the Lok Sabha is incomplete and inadequate. This is not enough to satisfy Pakistan. I reject this and demand a joint inquiry.”
“It was a very irresponsible act and the reply given is equally irresponsible,” Qureshi said. Expressing regret over the accidental missile firing incident, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in Parliament on Tuesday that the government has taken the incident very seriously and a high-level inquiry has been ordered. In a statement given first in the Rajya Sabha and later in the Lok Sabha on this incident, the Defense Minister said that India’s missile system is extremely safe and reliable and the country’s defense establishment gives top priority to safe procedures and standards.
“Sorry for the unintentional missile firing on March 9,” Singh said. The Defense Minister said that a missile was accidentally missed during routine maintenance and inspection of the missile unit. He said that it was later learned that the missile had landed in Pakistani territory and the incident was regrettable. Qureshi lamented that the international community has failed to realize the seriousness of the Indian missile launch when it was capable of carrying nuclear warheads and could result in a nuclear explosion.
Pakistan’s foreign minister said, “One-sided investigation is not enough. Its impact could be far away from the area, as the missile was capable of carrying a munition. To say it was an accident is not enough.

“If our Air Force had not handled the situation properly, there could have been a similar sudden reaction to the missile launch. Do people realize its implications and consequences? It’s very serious.”
He said the US State Department spokesperson, realizing the importance of the issue at a press conference, avoided a question asked about it and did not take a clear stand. “Do they realize that I am addressing (the US and the rest of the world) that this missile could result in a war between two nuclear-armed countries? I am not exaggerating about this, but it is a realistic assessment.” When asked whether Pakistan would also respond to the incident of sudden missile firing against India, he said, “We are responsible people and expect India to be responsible.”
Qureshi said that he spoke to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the missile issue to sensitize the international community. The External Affairs Minister also said that he informed the UN Secretary General and the President of the Security Council through a letter and tried to make them aware of their responsibilities that the incident took place and the world went silent.
Qureshi reiterated the questions asked by Pakistan’s Foreign Office regarding the Indian missile launch and asked New Delhi to respond. Talking about the upcoming meeting of OIC, he said that its Liaison Group on Kashmir will meet to review the current situation in Kashmir.
India has in the past rejected the jurisdiction of the OIC, saying that the organization is being occupied by vested forces to further its nefarious propaganda against India. (agency)
