Massachusetts State Police said nine suspects were taken into custody after an hour-long standoff that led to the partial closure of Interstate 95. Officials told a press conference that the standoff began early today after police noticed two cars slowing down and parked on the side of the road on the interstate highway Interstate 95. The red lights of both the cars were on.
This group does not obey the law
Mass State Police Colonel Christopher Mason said eight to 10 men dressed as soldiers were with guns and pistols. “The suspects refused to hand over their weapons and obey the orders of the authorities, claiming that they belonged to a group that did not obey the law,” the police said. They fled to the wooded area, where two people were arrested.
The standoff led to the closure of a section of Interstate-95 highway in Wakefield, blocking traffic. Police have advised residents of Wakefield and nearby Reading area to keep the doors of their homes closed. Wakefield police said in a statement that no threats had been made, but the suspects were armed and believed to be dangerous.
