According to the news published in Space.com, this research was presented last week at the Goldsmith Geochemistry Conference. For 250 to 350 million years, there was a bad condition on the earth and almost daily asteroids used to fall on the earth. Evidence of this is still found on earth today.
This team studied
This research has been done by Simon Marchi, lead scientist at Colorado’s Southwest Research Institute, and his colleagues. During this he studied the presence of Spherules. It ejected small bubbles of vaporized rock into space with the impact of an asteroid, but it froze back to Earth, forming a thin layer. The team used the new model to find out the impact of the asteroid. Research has found that the larger the asteroid, the thicker the layer of spherules will be formed in the stone.
Results revealed when compared with the old asteroid
But when the researchers compared the actual layer of spherules on the bedrock with the impact of previous asteroids, they found that the two were not the same. Marchi said in the statement, ‘We have found from current models that the impact of asteroids on Earth has been underestimated. This effect has been 10 times more powerful than we have ever imagined. Especially 350 to 350 crore years ago. Research has also found that the oxygen level has also been affected due to the attacks of these asteroids and due to this the ability of life on many young planets has also been damaged. Marchi said, ‘We have found that during that time the oxygen level has gone up and down badly.’
