Nepal on Sunday signed a US $ 150 million concessional loan agreement with the World Bank for the recovery and development of COVID-19. Nepal’s Finance Secretary Shishir Kumar Dhungana and World Bank, Country Director, Maldives, Nepal (Nepal) and Sri Lanka, Faris Hadad-Zarvos have signed the loan documents.
After signing the agreement, Dhungana said that these funds will help in improving Nepal and develop greenery in the country, especially in view of the adverse effects of the pandemic. He said the proposed budgetary support would be used for infrastructure and economic reforms as per the needs and priorities of the government.

The finance ministry said in a statement that the financial assistance will help accelerate major ongoing development projects, create jobs, accelerate markets and support green recovery. Meanwhile, Nepal on Sunday reported 1,920 new cases of coronavirus, taking the nationwide tally to 665,777. Health officials said the death toll rose to 9,009 with 34 more deaths.
Nepal on Wednesday announced the resumption of domestic and international flights to limited destinations. But along with this some restrictions will also be imposed. These services were suspended due to the lockdown implemented a few weeks ago due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, domestic flights will be allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity from July 1.
International flights started under security protocol
At the same time, international flights have started operating from June 24 under the security protocol set by the government. The statement issued by the ministry said, ‘The government has decided to resume the operation of regular international flights to and from Kathmandu to limited destinations. According to the new decisions, Nepal Airlines and Qatar Airways will be allowed to fly for Kathmandu-Doha sector twice a week. According to the statement, permission has been given to operate one flight between Kathmandu and New Delhi.
