The US space agency NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter will fly its sixth flight next week to Mars. During this time it will fly at a speed of nine miles per hour and will remain in the air for more than two minutes. This helicopter flight will be the first flight of ‘Operation Demonstration Face’. This includes helping Perseverance rover on Mars to search for ancient life. Explain that the rover is about to find the ancient of the planet near the Jagero crater.
The Ingenuity chopper will detect many surface features during its flight. After this, it will land in another airfield, which will be different from its flight location. It will fill a height of 33 feet in the sky of the red planet, then it will fly 492 feet southwest at a speed of nine miles per hour. During this time, it will capture the picture of sand and stones on the surface of Mars in the camera. In this new face, the data and pictures of the flight will be sent to the earth within a few days.
This time the rover will not take pictures of the Ingenuity helicopter
The thing to note here is that during the first five flights of the Ingenuity helicopter, the Percussion Rover took pictures of it while working as a cameraman. But this time the rover will not take pictures of the helicopter. This is because now the rover is searching for the ancient life on Mars under the stones present in the Jagero crater. Ingenuity was originally launched just to showcase the technology. But it worked better in its five flights, due to which it has been made the scout of the rover.
How is the Ingenuity helicopter flight program?
According to NASA, the helicopter’s flight will begin by flying 33 feet (10 m) above the surface of Mars. Then it will move 492 feet (150 meters) to the southwest. When it completes this distance, then this helicopter will draw a color picture of the entire area, which the team of Perception Rover is most excited about the investigation. This area is about 50–66 feet (15–20 m) south of Hover Point. After taking the photographs, the Ingenuity helicopter will move 164 feet (50 m) northeast, where it will have to land at a new location.
