The report said that the consumption of cannabis (cannabis) has increased in many countries during the global pandemic corona virus. Of the health professionals surveyed in 77 countries, 42 percent said that cannabis use has increased. Meanwhile, the non-medical use of therapeutic drugs has also increased.
Adults do not consider drugs to be harmful
It was reported that in the last 24 years, the number of adults who consider drugs to be harmful has decreased by 40 percent. There is evidence to suggest that cannabis use can lead to a number of health problems, especially in people who have been using it regularly for a long time.
Youth need to be made aware
UNODC Executive Director Gada Wali said, “The reduction in the number of people who consider drug use to be risky is related to the higher rate of its use. The World Narcotics Report, 2021 underlines that there is a need to sensitize youth, protect public health and bridge the gap between attitude and reality.
According to recent global estimates, about 5.5 percent of people aged 15 to 64 have used a drug at least once in the past year. Of the people who used drugs, 13 percent or 36.3 million people suffered from substance use disorders.
United Nations accuses Israel
On the other hand, the United Nations on Thursday accused Israel of openly violating international law by building settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. He called the settlements illegal and asked the new government of the country to immediately stop the expansion of the settlements. An Israeli defense ministerial body on Wednesday pushed 31 projects to build settlements in the West Bank. This is the first such step after taking charge under the new government of the country.
