As we all know that our solar system is full of wonders and millions of mysterious objects are present in it. In this episode of secrets and surprises, now a comet has come to the fore. Mega-Comet 2014 UN271 is entering our Solar System. According to the report of New Atlas, this mega-comet is expected to pass by the Sun by 2031 which will bring it closer to the orbit of Saturn.
Its width is estimated to be around 100 to 370 kilometers and it was seen through the Dark Energy Survey conducted between 2014 and 2018. The discovery of this mega comet was announced by the International Astronomical Union Minor Planet Center on 19 June.
rising closer to the sun
According to Sam Deen, a civilian astronomer, this new object 2014 UN271 is not only unusual but also fundamentally the most extraordinary of all known bodies in the Solar System to date. It was discovered at a distance of about 29 AU from the Sun, which is now at a distance of about 22 AU. Deen explained the comet in detail in a post on the Minor Planet Mailing List (MPML) forum.
Apart from this, there is also a possibility that once the comet comes closer to the Sun. It will develop a coma and tail that is typical of every other object yet observed in its orbit. The discovery of this mega comet is certainly very exciting for scientists. According to Deen, this comet will make an extraordinary target of study in the next few decades.
will be able to travel to space
Let us tell you that a Florida-based company plans to take passengers to space through a high-tech version of a hot air balloon. Apart from a pilot, eight passengers will be able to sit in the capsule attached to this balloon. These people will be taken to the mouth of space by sitting in a pressurized capsule. The diameter of the capsule attached to the balloon will be five meters, while the diameter of the balloon mounted above will be 100 meters. Human spaceflight company Space Perspectives plans to launch its first mission in early 2024.
